Juno 1, 7.30 p.m.) London, May 31. The- London wool sales opened very weak, prices being 5 to 20 per cent, be.low last London sales' closing rates. Half the offerings were withdrawn—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Rec. June 1, 8.5 p.m.) London, May 31. Following on Hie recent declines in prices nt London, provincial, and Antwerp gales, the trade generally oxprctod. that the London auctions opening to-dny would produce lower rates, but the extent of tite decline. (5 to 20 per cent, below last London sales' closing, rates) exceeded all anticipations. There were offered 11,020 bales, of which 2707 were New Zealand, and the- selection was fnirly representntive. . There was a large attendance., but bidding was very flack. Yovkehircmen would not buy merinos, and Continental buyers operated fiyxjringly in them nt an all-round decline of 15 to 20 per cent. Tine erossbreds met Blowbidding nt 10 to 15 per cent, decline. Medium and lower grades found better support at about 5 per cent, decline. New Zealand wool from the "Struan" clip made ltd. per lb.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
