MEETING OP MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Ooinmitee of the Wellington Kugby Union met last evening. Mr, W. Hornig presided • . Tho secretary of the Canterbury Union wroto expressing tho willingness of Canterbury, to play at Wellington on Juno 3, provided that Wellington agreed, to play a return match .on similar conditions next season. The action of the secretary In replying that the Wellington Union was will, ing to regard the match ns one for the Ranfurly Shield was endorsed, A request from a former Leaguo player for reinstatement led to a general discussion in tho course of which Mr. Prcndc-, villo suggested that upon the form of application used in such cases the rules as to pr6fes3ionalism should be endorsed. Tho meeting decided that tho merits of tho particular application before It should bo carefully Inquired into, Hamilton asked for a match with Wellington during tho northern tour of tho Wellington team. ' The chairman pointed out that the Hamilton Union was not affiliated to the New Zealand Union. Special permission from tho Now Zealand Union would have to bo obtained before the suggested match could be arranged. Tho matter was deferred. Tho Lower Hutt Borough Council advised that It could not acccdo to tho union's, request for permission to take up a collection in the Hutt Hecreation Ground on the Saturday afternoons on which no charge is made at the gate. Tho Oriental Club asked tho union to credit it with a win by default lu the fourth class match that its team was to have played against Hutt at Kilbimie on Saturday last. The meeting awarded tho match to Oriental, and decided to call upon tho Hutt Olub to show causo foi which it should not be fined.
