POLICE, CIVIL AND BY-LAW CASES •Mr. E. Page, 8.M., dealt with the police cases at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Mndclino Maud Page, charged with the theft of a bottle of whisky valued at 12s. 6(1., and a cut-glass decanter valued at £3, the.property of. Leslie Guy Pulton, was convicted find ordered to como up for .sonfpnee when called upon on condition that she remains at the Salvation Army-Home for a period of 12 months. Thomas Lowry. had three <barges preferred against him, to all of which ho pleaded guilty. For using obsceno language lie was fined £5, with the alternative or seven days' imprisonment,' for committing a breach of his prohibition order he was-tronvlcted and discharged and for drunkenness he was committed to Iloto Roa Island for 12 months. Herbert Arthur "Denyer, was charged with drunkenness, also with a breach of his. prohibition order. Sub-Inspector Ennrson stated that Denyer hod been convicted in Auckland for a, breach of his prohibition order and had been fined £5,- in default a'month's imprisonment, and ho ■had'-not paid-the fino. The Magistrate convicted and discharged him on both charges and suggested that ho should bo returned to .Auckland.
