NAURU PHOSPHATES
ME!.' C. J. BMKBS THE IIEST • COMMISSIONER. The Prime Minister gave some information a few days ago about the completion of the Nauru purchase, and.in the course of his statement he Announced that he had chosen his first commissioner to represent New Zealand in the administration of the business of phosphate production and supply. Mr. Mas6cy stated yesterday that the first commissioner woiuld ■bo Mr. C. J, Reakcs, head of tho Agricultural Department. Mr. Reakes.is to take charge of the business during the initial stages of it only, for a period of ft month or two. When tho business is fairly established,' Mr. Massey will appoint a successor to Mr. Iteakes, and he has already selected the appointee.
