KENNEL CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The thirty-third annual meeting of tho Wellington Kennel Olub was held on Saturday. Mr. A. W. Blair, president occupied the chair. Tho chairman, commenting on the annual balance-sheet, taid that although the net result of last year's show was disappointing, the event waß by no r eanß a financial disaster. Owing to the restricted train servico the show lied Icen gieatly handicapped. Then, again, tho building in whioh tho show had been belrt was not well situated for attracting a big attendance ot the public, the site at Thorndon being too far away from tho c-utre of the city: Tho club had commenced the year with a cash balance in the bank of £'i lis. 4d., and had now only ss. 2d. in hand, with sundry creditors amounting to £5 sa.
Tho election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr. A. W. Blair (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mrs. A. E. Kcrnot; Dr. Newman, M.P.; 11. A. H. Gilmer, Arnold Izard, Messrs. T. 11. Wilford, Paul Hunter W. It. Morris, S. H. Bastall, S. George Nathan, T. Coltman, I'. B. Phipson (ex-oflicio), Frank M'Parland, W. A. Smith, F. F. Newman, W. H. Moorhouse. W. Janson, and 0. B. Kline; committee, Messrs. Alex. Brown, A. S. Brown, J. H. Wright, Barlow Wills, A. It. Collins, P. Lcssington, F. Houso E. J. Bcthell, I'. J. Wright, and P. Wilson; delegates to N.Z.K.Q., Messrs. A. W. Blair and P. Wilson; lion, veterinarians, Messrs. W. Quiuncll, •M.K.0.V.8., and A. Mllligan; hon. auditor, Mr. W. 11. Welsh; lion, secretary and treasurer,, Mr. R. G. Hollis; Australian representatives, Mrs. Garnet SolUcux and Mr. M'lntosh; Bhow managers,. Messrs. A S. Brown and J. H. Wright. A motion was passed expressing regret at the death of the late Dr. K. Fyfie, who for many yearn was one of the club's vicepresidents. Tho meeting also passed a motion expressing thajika to the hon, treasurer for his valuablo services and for his report.
A letter was received from tho Auckland Kennel Ulub urging the advantages of all kennel clubs combining for tho issue of a standardised prize schedule. The ■ cldet reason put forward was tho saving in com to each club. After discussion the matter was referred to the committee lor consideration.
It was decided to alter the days for tne annual show from Wednesday and Thursday to Friday and Saturday, in view of tho oil mi go that has taken place in tho day oh which the weekly half-holiday u obbervod.
Messrs. A. W. Blair and A. : H. Odium were -appointed to make on ondcavour to obtain a certain favourable place for the holding ot "tho next annual show. It was moved by Mr. S. 11. l.astall, ana seconded by Mr. B. Wills, that Uor tho consideration of delegates at the annual meetiiiiT of the New Zealand Kennel Olub. 1920) the following addition ' be made to rule 20, page 21:—"The breeder of any dog that has been awarded a championship certificate may by applying to the Kennel Club, and upon such application beinc approved by file executive, rcceivo a goid medal, providing that each dog has Ijucu duly registered in the AFT; Zealand KenncJ Olub stud book, together with its sire and dam, in 'accordance with rule 18, page 4; the fee for such .registration being is,. The Kennel Club's Breeders' championship gold medal will be available only to the breeders of those dogs which.are awarded championship certificates from August 1, 1921."
The resolution was adopted unanimously.
