Henry Wood, also with one 'previous conviction, was fined 10s., with the alternative of 48 hours' imprisonment. Horace Jeyes was charged with wilfully damaging a- door valued at £1, the property of Edmund Battersby. The complainant occupied a room at 17 Abel Smith Street, and the defendant, who was intoxicated, went to Battersby's room, knocked at tho door, and called out: "Is Jack the Rippor in?" Battcrßbv declined to open the door, which the defendant then broko in. Jeyes was convicted and fined £2, and was ordered to pay the amount of tho damage, and costs. A remand to Wednesday wns granted in the caae of George Byan, who was charged with tho theft of an overcoat valued at £4. the property of Lome James Lipsett. Colin M'Kenzie. charged with obtaining of Greytown on September 24,1919, the sum of £5 from Henry Joseph Kelliher by means of a false pretence with intent to defraud, was remanded to appear at Greytown on June 2. Thomas Honrv Groll, who was in arrear to the extent of £64 in reßpect to a maintenance order, was sentenced to a month's Imprisonment, the warrant to bo suspended so long as he pays £1 per veek oil the amount. Albert Henderson; whose arrears totalled £25 55., waß sentenced to a month's imprisonment,' tho warrant to be suspended so long as 255. per week-is paid (f the arrears. Seymour Nicholson was ordered to pay 10s. per week, also £10 past'maintenance, in support of his illegitimate child.
