CRITICISM OF HUNTER COMMIS- : SION'S REPORT. London, May 30. There is much criticism for and against the Hunter Commission's report regarding the shooting at Amritsar. Leading Anglo-Indians generally support General Dyer. lord Sydenham, in an article, declares that if the rebellion in Punjab had succeeded, it would have been a disastor of the first magnitude. General Dyer's action cannot justly be condemned by anyone who has followed closely recent events in India.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn;
Delhi, May 29. English papers in India, commenting on the Hunter Commission's report on General Dyer's action in ordering tho shooting at Amritsar, strong defend Genoral Dyer, and declare that he saved the Punjab.
The Indian papers assert,that while the majority report whitewashes General Dyer, it will only deepen the feeling that ho caused the happenings in the Punjab.—Reuter.
