HOCKEY
0 SENIOR COMPETITION. The hockey competitions were continued on Saturday at Karori Park. The grounds were in excellent condition. WAKATU V. RAMBLERS. On No. 1-ground Wnk.itn met Ramblers. During the first spell Wakatu, with the wind behind them, mads the pace willing, and kept continually threatening tho Ramblers' goal. Ramblers, who had changed tl«e team round for this game, broke away now and again, but tho opposing full-backs were too safe, and each time succeeded in sending the ball back to their own forwards. At ;lie close of the spell Wakatu were 2 to nil. In the next spell Ramblers rallied, but were unable to net the ball, while several combined rushes of the Wakatu forwards, who were working in perfect unison, made things look very black for the older team, but they managed to scoro only two more goals. After an interesting and hard-fought game, Wakatu camo off winners by 4 to nil. WELLINGTON V. HUIA. This match was not lacking in interest, but the Blue and Whites completely outclassed their Black and White opponents. Huia did not play up to the form they showed when placing Central lasi week. In tho first half, however, it looked as though Wellington would find it difficult to win. At spell the score wa6— Wellington 1, Huia nil. During the next spell Huia went all to pieces, and Wellington managed to net the ball four times. The final score was—Wellington 5, Huia 0. UNITED V. ST. AUGUSTINE. Both teams battled hard for a victory, which United, by some runs of fine combined work, managed to snatch from their rivals. After a hard-fought first spell the team's were 1 all. On resuming United took tbe ball straight from tho "bully" to the atjt. St. Augustine struggled hard to equalise, but were unsuccessful. The final' score was—United 2, St. Augustine 1. CENTRAL V. UNIVERSITY. Central seemed to ta*e their beating of laßt week as a lesson, for they metUniversity on Saturday in a 'very businesslike manner. University, however, is not a team to be despised, and put up a good fight. Superior knowledge of the game and combination, however, gave the victory to Central with a score of 6 to 2. HUTT V. KARORI. Karori is certainly improving, for on Saturday thiey gave Hutt, by no means n poor team, a run for their money. Both teams played well, and just before time Hutt wrenched a draw from their opponents by finding (lie net for the third time. Score—Hutt 3, Karori 2.
