WILSON'S CAMPAIGN "NATIONAL HONOUR" THE BATTLE-CRY TREATY TO BE RESUBMITTED (By Telegraph-Press Association-Ooiiyrielit Washington, May 28. President Wilson intends to make "national honour" tho crux of his campaign fight for the League of Nations. He proposes to resubmit tho Peaco Treaty as drafted, with certain suggestions for interpretative resolutions, lie will go to tho country with an appeal to honour the cause which it fought for, as tho basis upon which peace was brought about.—Aus.-N.JS. Ca'ble Assn. KNOX PEACE RESOLUTION THE PRESIDENT'S CONDEMNATION. Washington, May 28. Congress has refused to override tho veto on the Knox resolution. President Wilson, in vetoing the resolution, declared that the Treaty embodied important things omitted by the resolution. In rejecting tho Treaty tho United States declared in effect that 6ho wished to draw apart, and pursue only her own objects and interests. Such a .peaco with Germany aa tho resolution proposed was, or ought to bo, inconceivable. It was inconsistent with tho dignity of tho United States, _ with tho Tights and liberties of its citizens, and with tho very fundamentals of civilisation.—Reuter. Paris, May 29. Tho French Chamber of Deputies carried a vote of confidence in M. Millcrand (Premier) after his explanation oil tho Entente's indemnity, policy. 110 denied that tho Hytlio Conference had fixed any definite sum. France's bill for reparations compiled to date equals sixty-six milliards'of gold marks. France was not disposed to withdraw from tho occupied areas. Tho Allies admitted the principle of occupation if Germany l>roko her engagements. It would be scandalous if Germany did not pay the debt to which she had pledged herself at Versailles. It is understood that Canada has formulated a war damages bill totalling 1870 million dollars, including the ccst of the war and demobilisation, 171 ci millions; separation allowances, So millions; losses due to the Halifax disaster, 30 millions! cost of tho army of occupation, 8 millions; illegal warfare damages, 311 millions.
