POLICE BARRACKS ATTACKED AND BURNED TINY GARRISON'S GALLANT DEFENCE TWO KILLED AND THE REST WOUNDED By TeleKrapli—Press Association—Copyriirht (Rec. May 30, 5.5 p.m.) London, May 25. There was a desperate night attack on tho Kilmallock police barracks, County Limorick. The tiny garrison held out for flvo hours against tho 400 attackers, until tho barracks caught fire and wero burned to tho ground. Two police defenders were lrarned to death and another dangerously wounded. It is believed that two Sinn Fciners wero killed and others wounded, but details are lacking, as Kilmallock is isolated owing to the cutting of telephones and telegraphs and the tearing up of railway lines. There was a gruesome discovery at Limerick Junction, when a fireman found a human head impaled on tho engine of a mail train.

Later messages state that communication with Kilmallock is still unrestored. Excitement in tho district is intense. Other barracks have been attacked and burned. The whole of the garrison at Kilmallock wero wounded. Burning petrol was thrown on the roof of the barracks from neighbouring houses and compelled a surrender. ; Tho remains on the mail train arcnow said to bo a human heart, but probably it is a gruesome joke, as a search of the railway line doos not reveal evidence of an accident.—Aus.-N.Z.
