WORK OF WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION.

The executive of the Wellington War Belief Association met yesterday. Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp presided, and Messrs, S. Kirkcaldie D. M'Laren, W. Ferguson, an<l C. A. Bwen were also present. The Finance Committee reported that the funds in hand on April 80 totalled ■■ i 63,468; The excess of expenditure over •"income during the month of April had ~ amounted to .£7lB. The Applications Committee reported that it had received 380 applications during the period May 1 to 28, including 121 new. applications. : The number of claims lodged did not appear to grow, less, and applications from men domiciled outside New Zealand were daily being received. The committee had also received applications from, and have granted assistance to, and Cauadian scldiers who arrived in New Zealand destitute. A large number of _ applications for mufti have been received •.from inmates of hospitals on account of thoir being discharged from the N Z E.F.. and in ensea where tho allotment, had been used by dependants or ' whero. the repayment of a loan would have inflicted hardship upon the sol- • dier, grants had been made.
