Mr. J. C. Williamson, chief inspector of tlio l'ost and Telegraph Department, wlm recently resigned from the service, is now on his iiiial leave. Ho' left on a trip io Australia by the Uliwarca on Thursday.
A. complimentary social v.as tendered bv the members and adherents of Upper Hult Presbyterian Church to Sir. H R Gibbs, who is about to leavo on a 'trip to Great Britain. There was a good gathering, and the Sunday-school children were also present. Mr. Gibbs has acted as Sunday school superintendent for several years. The scholaw gave him tho present of a pocket Biblo neatly inscribed. The presentation was liiado by the youngest girl scholar, Miss Lorna Campbell. Mr. "Wilkinson spoke. on behalf of the Suuday school. Tho Church presented Sir. Gibbs with a travelling case in recognition of liis services as sessiou clei'k, and liis whole-hearted interest in general church work. Sir. T. E. E. Jefcoate, of the Imlay Freezing Works, Wanganui. left for the south last evening. In one of our advertising columns will be found the railway arrangements for tli» coming holidays, and Ilia .train arrangements for-the Otaki races.
