SKETCH EXHIBITION
The sketch exhibition now open at tho Art Gallery, Whitmore Street, promises to be the most successful yet heOd by tho academy. On Monday arid Tuesday the gallery was visited by largo numbers of the public, the liveliest appreciation being expressed of the high standard of the •work shown. Thirty-one of the sketches have already found purchasers. Among the artists whose works have sold aro Nugent Welch, Flora Scales, A. Bender, E. A. Killick. .1. Ellis, M. 0. Stodda.rt, E. K. Kobison, Vivian Smith, Mina Arndt, Violet Bell, E. M'Eldowney, G. H, Barton, Fanny Holmes, Agnes Paul, H. Olivant, A. F,'Darby, and H. M. Gore. Six water-colours by 0. Hay CarenKol], of Wanganui, which unfortunately arrived too late for the opening day, have since been hung, and aro well worthy of inspection by art students.
