THE TERRITORIALS

TRAINING OF OFFICERS AND N.C.O.'S WEEK'S COURSE OF INSTRUCTION. As already announced, no Territorial camps will bo held during the present training year. General Headquarters, however, have laid it down that this docs not absolve officers and n.c.o.'s from attending training for one week, inclusive of tho day of tntering and leaving camp. Tho necessity of ensuring that efficient officers and n.c.o.'s only shall bo retained in the Territorial Force and the Reserve i 6 of vital importance. Similarly n.c.o.'s of tho Territorial forces above the rank of corporal (i.e., sergeants and upwards) will be required to perform a similar course of instruction. At least four opportunities should be given to every officer and n.c.o. to afc tend these obligatory courses, but the courses will be concluded, by December 15, 1020.

The whole object of, holding ihese four separate courses is to ensure, as far as possible, that everv officer and n.c.o. of the New Zealand Territorial Force and Reserve is given the opportunity of selecting and attending any one of the four courses which will bo most convenient to himself and which will cause the least interference with, his civil profession or avocation.
