PREMIERS' CONFERENCE
PROPOSED UNIFORM RAILWAY GAUGE. (Eeo. May '24, 11.25 p.m.) Melbourne, May 24. Details of the proposals submitted iw Mr. W. M. Hushes (Federal Premier) to the Premiers' Conferenco 'for a uniform railway gauge show that it is intended to connect tho capitals from Briebane to Perth with a 4ft. BJin. gauge, the mainland States_ to contribute to the cost on a per capita basis, the Commonwealth also contributing a quota, the Commonwealth to make arrangements for raising the money by issuing nonnegotiable bonds for a fixed period. A motion was carried recommending each State to legislate for the control of air. navigation, pending the passage of Commonwealth legislation.—Prusa Assn. , •
