N.Z. LABOUR PARTY.
■ ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN JULY. The annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party will be held in Wellington in July, and a number of varied questions are, set down for consideration. Among the remits submitted is »)ne from the Christchurch Social Democratic Party,' which' proposes, "That seeing the objective; of the Labour Party is llie socialisa-' tion of' the means of distribution and exchange, no nominee of the. party shall be allowed official support who does not sign a declaration of Socialism, such declaration to be held by the National Executive." The wages of Parliament proposal comes from the Wanganui branch, and is as follbws-.—"That when the' New Zealand Labour Party controls the reins of Government, the wage for members of Parliament to be fixed by the'delegates at annual conference." . " With regard to military matters, the Canterbury L.R.C. suggests <hafc' the provision in the present Labour platform for a citizen army be deleted, and .the National Peaco Council proposes, inter alia, the definite repudiation of "militarism and all its instruments (conscription, voluntary armies, news censorship, passports, etc.), with immediate disarmament." The council also asks that tho Lalbour Party should urge the workers of belligerent countries to renly to a declaration of war by a general strike. ■
