' .From Our Special Correspondent.' .' 1 Carterton, Mar 22. A meeting of the General Committee of He Wairarapa P. and A. Society was held at Carterton on Saturday, Mr. James Hodder presiding. - The treasurer reported a debit balance of ,£1855 23. Bd. to the general account; hall account debit .£926 r2s. 3d.; receipts since last meeting /5175 9s. sd. Accounts amounting to i 335 7s. 2d. were passed for payment. , Mr. J. C. Cooper wrote agreeing to represent the society at the annual meet-: ing of the National Sheepbrcedere' Association, to be held in England on June 28, providing he reached England in time. The General -Manager of Railways wrote in reference to the carriage of fodder for the use of show stock, pointing out the practice followed by the Department was to grant free conveyance of fodder for uso on vail journeys, and he regretted that lie could _ not see his way to extend this concession to cover fodder required for use during the time the show was being held. ■The Masterton A. and P. Association wrot'o asking if the Wairarapa Society would be willing to act in conjunction with Mr. Ward, Government Agricultural Instructor, and n committee from the Masterton Association to- discuss the . question of experimental work in the Wairarapa. and, if so, suggesting a conference. 1 Messrs. A. Clark, C. lieid, G. E: Allen, W. Fisher, and .W. Howard Booth were appointed a committee. • Messrs. W. Howard Booth and Sir Walter Buchanan were appointed the society's delegates to the annual conferepce of, the New Zealand Council of Agriculture on July 7 and 8. Three new members were elected and three resignations accepted. It was resolved' to endeavour to secure a three months' option over a suitable a Tea of ground for the accommodation of show stock. Mr. D. Buchanan offered a special prize for dry cow, and Messrs. Wakelin Bros., Ltd., prizes for bread and scones made from their flour. Messrs.'W. Howard Booth and J. Hod-J der .were appointed trustees for the guarantors in connection with the erection of new offices. 1 It was resolved not to allow trespassers on the grounds..
