HARRIERS

Over 20 Tunners took part in Saturday's run, starting from Te Aro Baths. J. Greig and G. Sherwood had charge of the paper. Leaving the baths, the runners had a, stiff climb to the top of Moui}t Victoria, then a nice run along tho ridge towards tho hospital. The trail 1 then ledi down to Evans Bay, the rest of the journey being confined to the road. A run-in handicap of half a mile was held, and resulted: E. Corcoran, 1; N. Smilie, 2; R. 'Poutawera, 3. Great interest is being evinced in next Saturday's race— tho three mile sealed handicap, at Seatoun—as the first ten men to finis!* aro to represent the club 'in the big teams' race at Dunedin on June 12. Fully 30 runners aro expected to start in next , week's event. ■ Saturday was an ideal day for the Olympic Club's novice race of two and a | half miles. The course was (railed by four veterans. D. Alabaster.'C. Wilson. R. Cooke, and W. Donaldson. The runners, to the number of 15. were started on their journey by tho president. Mr. W. H. Philo. The scratch man. Pearston, started early to make the pace, and got amongst the limit men, but condition told, and tko other back-markers b'evan to make themselves known. Oarwell-Oooke, Wilkinson, and K. Beagleholl began to move up and eventually displaced Kerr, Kuch, and P, Wilson. Thlo final result was Wilkinson, 20sec„ 1: K. Beagloholl, 20aec„'2: OarwcllCooke, 45scc„ 3. Fastest time was made by Wilkinson (19min. 23sec.) and Beaclel'.oll (19m!n. 32eec.). The run over, mcraliars to tho number of 30 sat down to afternoon tea., when the president and the captain. W. Scratchard, congratulated the successful runners.
