EXHIBITION BOXING
BOUTS AT THE TOWN HALL.
Boxing enthußlaelßts forgathered, in the Town Hall on Saturday evening to witness exhibitions put on by the two participants in to-night's big contest, and lessor lights of the ring. Tho show was staged in aid of tho funds of the I\ew Zealand Olympic flames Committee, ana held the interest of the audience throughout the whole evening. "Tommy Wren, the welter-weight and middle-weight champion of Australia, and "Dick ft ewe, J. Wellington middle-weight, gave an exhibition. Following this another exhibition bout was put on by Herbert Morgan (6«t. 101b.)' and Morton Black (6st. 121b.), two fly-weight pupils of Mr. T. Tracy. By wftj of variety "Fritz Holland, wiiosd sparring partner was unable to appear, treated the audience to somo Belortlons on the 6axaphone. Volaire, the French light-weight, met J. Carr, a. local featherweight, in another short exhibition bout. Yolaire also gave an exhibition of shadow sparring; followed by ground exercises. T. TJren contributed a fine exhibition of skipping, and tho last event was anexhlbition match between Havilah wen (a brother of the champion) _ and Korr. Yolairo and Havilah TJren, it was announced, "will meet in Wellington in Juno. During the evening Mr. A. A. Marryatt, chairman of the Olympic Committee, briefly the audience, thanking them for their attendance,' and intimating that the Olympic fund now stood at £1160-only £240 short of the required quota. • TO-NIGHT'S CONTEST. . Indications are that both Holland and TJron, who are to meet at the Town Hall to-night, are yrondorfully. fit. While Urcn has an excellent record in Tecent contests, it must be borne in mind that on two occasions Holland been declared the winner over him, despite that the American on each occasion liaß had to make a weight somewhat'too light to allow of hiß being at the top of his form. Tonight Holland has to make one pound less than tho middle-weight limit of llßt. 61b., and this should allow of his being really well. Ho twico defeated the late Les Darcy, so that he may rightly be termed an opponent 'worthy of tho steel of the redoubtable TJren. The association desire to avoid as far as poßsiblo all hitches at the doors, and patrons are advised to carefully note tho announcement appearing in our columns to-day regarding the seating accommodation. Patroni of the 6s. and 1«. seats are advißcd to get their seats to-day, as this will ensure them a seat, and relievo them of wasting time obtaining tickets at tho door.
