DRAINAGE OF LONGBURN.
SPECIAL EATING AREA ADVOCATED.
By Telegraph—Special Correspondent. Palmorston North, May 21. A well-attended public meeting was hold at Longburn to.-night tc> = on ' ld ® r • the question of drainage. Several bers of the Kairanga County Counwl attended. Mr. Fell was voted to the chair. Tho meeting resolved that a scheme should bo drawn up for improving tho drainage; that an estimate of the cost should bo obtained; and that tho Longburn member of tho should circulate a petition for the formation of a special rating area for raisitur the necessary money. Tho engineer to tho council was invited to supply an estimate of the cost of tho work. It wns agreed that the council should open np the main drain from tho school down, and cut oft' any connections. Tho matter of draining the railway property was left to be arranged, if possible, bv tho chairman of tho county council and tho railway engineer.
