In connection with the motor accident ,-'i by which Mr. Arthur E. Eglinton lost '; his life on the Wauganui" "RoutU on Thursday evening, au iuquest was opened at Sanson yesterday morning, and after formal evidence as to identification had been Riven it was adjourned. - Mr. Eglinton was a well-known farmer in the district, and a son of. the late Sir. D. and Mrs. Eglinton, of Palmerstou North. He leaves a widow and a son j and daughter. Two brothers, Messrs. B. j C._aud N. S. Eglinton, resido at Ran- j giofu, and three other brothel's live in j the'Palmerstou North district. ' ' j Messrs.. Loughmui and Daniels' flax- '; mill at Makarua has been destroyed by fire, with' the exception of the scutching shed. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. Tho buildings were under-in-' sural and the owners aro heavy losers, hut state their intention of rebuilding at once. At the Supreme Court at Palmerston North yesterday. Henrr Joseph Lewis, who had been remanded for sentence on charges of breaking and entering and . theft, was ordered to undergo two years reformative treatment.
