AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS' GRATUITIES
Sir—A'decision of importance to Aus« tralian soldiers resident in the Doniin ion has been reached by the Common} wealth Government. The application; for bonds for the war gratuity have now been distributed to post offices. If has transpired that a number of soldiers who have left 'Australia haw given power of. attorney or authority to collect their gratuity to a friend, relative, or agent in Australia. These orders will not be honoured or in any' way recognised by the Commonwealth Department. The soldier 6hould get in coniira'nication with the headquarters o| the military district from which ho enlisted and make application for bis bond, which will be sent to him at his present address. Tho gratuity is at the rate of Is. Gd. per day, froni the date of embarking for overseas to Peace DaJ (June 29, 1919). —I am, etc., ■•! EX-A.I.F.j
