HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED EEPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, ■ dated May 15, from,the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Meat.—From May 17 the following, wholesale prices have been fixed!— New mutton, cut. ewes. 7d. per lb.; uncut ewes, Sd. per lb.; cut -wethers and tegs, Sd. per lb.; uncut welihefs and tegs, 9d. Australian, Jd. per lb. less except for uncut wethers and tegs, which remain at 9d. Lamb: No change in price, Is. Id. Retail .prices free from control. Butter—Average price English butter is 3s. 2id. per lb.; Irish creamery, .£l6 Ids.; factory, i!ls per cwt. Ministry of food announces that in view of lower prices and increasing supplies, rationing will be abolished on May 30, but present maximum wholesale and retail fixed prices for Government-controlled butter will remain in force. Hemp.—Manila quiet, and prices weaker, but at the close moderate business done at (the decline. Present quotations for "J" grade are:— January-March shipment, ,£G6; Febru-ary-April and March-May shipments, ,£65 (sellers). April June to' July-September shipments sold ,£65. New Zealand market is inactive and is easier. Sellers' closing quotations were:—HigliPoinls, spot, J59; February-April shipment, ,£sl, ,£52, respectively. Honey.—No change since last report.
