The North Otago Meeting will be held ob .Thursday and Friday of this week. The Wnfoganui Jockey Club's • Winter Meeting will, be .opened on Thursday noxt and concluded on the Saturday. The first Eltham Cup, which was decided on Friday last, was won by Mr. A. Alexander's Mimiro (Hallowmas—Ruu Rau), with Paddington. Green in a second place, arid Tirana third. Three yearlings from the Waikanae stud have recently been broken. in by H. Telford, and are regular workers on the Trentham tracks. They are nn All Block-Effort colt, who has been named Rugby, and fillies by Coniform from Peace and Vice Reine. '•
Phio, the full-sister to Philomela, has been sold' to a Sydney buyer. Weary Willie, who has been spelling after a. gelding operation, is to resume work-at Trenthnm next week. With ft view to making room for some, of his 'yearlings, H. A, Telford has decided that Fuliea and Philomela are not worth going on with; and they have been sent to the Waikanae stud. ' W. Dwyer, who is now; located at Waverloy, has purchased Active from H. A. Telford. Santorina is also in work under the former trainer.' In addition to the' Buckwheat, and Bardolph colts, purchased at the Sydney sales, J. W. Lowe has several other yearlings in work nt Trenthnm. Tho Absurd filly has been giving trouble and may have to be spelled, and the Boniform— Liidy Jean II colt fell recently and in-', jurcd one of his knees. . -A. Godfrey is working tho All Black —Martian Princess ■ filly, and the youngster is daily developing muscle.. The. same trainer has Prince Hal in steady work. The son of Marble Arch has been gelded since he last raced. The Trentham trainer, P. M'Lauglilin, has leased the Bezoiiian—SequincttV yearling from his breeder, and the' N youngster i 9 now being ridden about the .' roads. ■ . H. A. Telford will leave for Wangnnui t.liis"morning.
