ALIENS NATURALISATION
CLOSING THE HOOK TO THE CIVIL SERVICE. (Rec. May 13, 7.35 p.m.) London, May 12. The Aliens' Naturalisation Bill, which is being introduced into the House of Lords, is published. Inter alia, the measure provides that no alien may be appointed to tliD Civil Service nor as master, chief officer, or chief engineer of any British merchant vessel registered in the United Kingdom, exceptions being made in favour of those who performed faithful service in the war." Aliens are also debarred from holding pilotogi) certificates. Exception is made in the case oi French nationals using the ports of Newhaven and Grimsby/ Special clauses are inserted providing for special powers of naturalisation for British possessions, subject to n proviso in the case of the , Dominions that the measure must be adopted bv the Legislatures of tho Dominions.—lmperial News Service.
