CONDITIONS OF RETENTION OF CONSTANTINOPLE COMMISSION TO CONTROL , STRAITS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, May 11. Snbjcct to the provisions of tho Turkish Treaty tho parties agree to'tho maintenance of the Turkish sovereignty at Constantinople. A reservation is made that if Turkey fails to observo the provisions of tlie Treaty or supplementary treaties or conventions, particularly as regards the protection of minorities, tho Allies may modify this concession. Turkey agrees to accept any dispositions made in this connection. Navigation of the Straits, including'the Dardanelles. Sea of Marmora, and the Bosporus, will bo open in future, both in peace and in war, to all merchantmen, warships, and aircraft without distinction. The commission controlling the Straits will bo composed of one representative each from the United States, the British Empire, France, Italy. Japan', Russia, Bulgaria, Greece, and Rumania. Although there is considerable resentment at tho severity of tho pence terms the police are maintaining order ip the crowded streets. No anti-Ally demonstrations have been reported.
