2 NOTES AND COMMENTS 3 • .

, x .By Glencoe. The Egmort Meeting and the Timaru Meeting will be concluded to-day, ; . Silver Peak, winner of the ■ Smithftcld Handicap at Washdyke yesterday, lias proved a good bargain for Mr. W. Stone, of Invercargill, wljo purchased him at tho last Dunedin Meeting in February. Muri liiku. who was rupner-up to Silver PcaK , yesterday, is in the same stables as Strategy, winner of'the Elcctrio Handicap, tho pair being owned by Mr. A. M'Donald, of Masterton, and trained by J. S. .Tainie6on. Strategy is one of the successful Martiau breed, and has always shown • N pace in his races. ■ ' Luperino, winner of the Tongahoe Huidlcs at the Egmont Meeting yesterday, has shown no form for a long time, but t ncyertheless his victory was anticipated yesterday, and he started favourite. Tho runner-up was tte Grand National Steeplechase winner Lochella.' Luperino is engaged in the Great Northern Hurdles with 9st. 91b. opposite his name, and hu does not incur any extra poundage as tho result of yesterday's win. Johnny Walker is doing plenty of strong work at Trentham, and so far lie shown no signs of any unsoundness. Hie. new owner, Mr. Harr.v Howe, is greatly pleaaed with the Martian gelding. The TVairarapa owner, Mr. 0. P. Vallance, is very partial to a 'chaser, and regularly his colours are seen out in the winter. Luke, winner of the Hack Steeples at Hawera yesterday, is ono of Ills team, and was bred at Kahumingi Station. He is bv the Multiform horse Acrostic from Eenora. Luke is a typical cut of a jumper, and ho should do further service for his owner this Eeason. . . Wirokino, winner of the Egmont' Steeplechase, has been oil the scene for a couplo of seasons, and his win yesterday was somewhat unexpected; HWirokino is trained by P. Higgot at' Otaki. He is a great jumper, and on this account must always be given a chance in a crosscountry event. The All Eed gelding-All Over was confidently supported in the Tongahoe Hurdles at Hawera "yesterday, but'he failed to realise expectations. The success of Marqueteur in the big handicap, at Hawcra yesterday was freely anticipated. He was 'ridden by H. Gray, which would account, for a lot of the support accorded him. Karo is working very freely, on the Eiccarton tracks, cmd the Deniosthencs marc will have, solid support iti the Marlborough Stakeß on Saturday iriUvliich 6ho will be opposed by Arrowsmitii,' Amvthas. and Eight,and-Left. " ( Kilrush galloped a very attractive nine furlongs at Eiccarton on Saturday last, and though he haß a good weight tjjo Vranganui Cup winner will be ono of tho fancies for tlio- big handicap at the Eoyal Meeting. .
