The principal business of the evening wag a lecture by Mr. F. G. . Cray, actiner-Kenoral manager o£ the Koyal Ewhanee Assurance Cornoration, entitled "Fire Insurances." Mr. uray, in mtrortuc-- , in? his subject, stated that no students of accounts could* afford to neglect a sound workinn knowledge of fire insurance, and that the large insurance corporations in New Zealand had played an important e part in the development of tho commerce 1 of the Dominion. The lecturer stated at n tho outßCt that an insurance policy was • not a wager, but an indemnification in tho event of a loss by fire, and that the policies of comuanies operating ir. New--0 Zealand were all uniform as to their cont ditions.
