In a telegram to the Democratic Party in tho State of Oregon President Wilson says: "I think it imperativo r that tho Democratic Party should immediately proclaim itself tho uncompromising ohampion of the nation's honour and therefore endorse the sup- e port of the Versailles Treaty and con- v oemn the Lodge reservations. Let us , prove to our late associates in the war ' that at any rate the great majority.of the pariy of the nation—the party which t expresses the true hopes and purposes , of tha people of the United States-in-tends to keep faith with them in peace as well as in war. The League of Natious is the hope of the world. We cannot in honour weaken it as the Republican leaders of the Senate propose to do. The Democratio Party now has a great opportunity, which it must seize. The honour of the nation is in its hands,"—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. / ====== fl
