Dr. Thacker, M.P., presided, and several Liberal M.P.'s were nmone those present. : . . Responding to the toast of his health. Sir Joseph Ward said that lie believed the Liberal Party in New Zealand would again be returned to power with, a genuine, majority of tho people behind it. In the past ho had had, and he still 1 had, in his possession offors from leading public men at Home (not tho present Imperial Government) to tako part in Imperial politics, but so far ho had rofused all these offers, What tho future held, no ono could say. _ All ho i could say was that his present intention i was to come back to Now Zealand after ; having a good vest,.
