TAXATION INCREASES
FIJIAN LEGISLATION. (Ree. May 7, 7.30 p.m.) . Suva, May 7. The Legislative Council of Fiji,.which is now sitting, lias many Jietv liscal Ellis before it. Trading licenses are to be doubled and stamp dutiils increased, The export tax on eopra is to bs- increased by ten shillings per ton and the export tax .on sugar by ten shillings per ton also . An Income Tax Bill has been introduced. The minimum taxable income is JiIOOO and the tax is 5 per . cent,', graduated to 3s, Cd. in the ,£. Insurance companies, nre to be taxed 5 . per cent.on premium ' receipts and shipping companies 0 per cent, on outward freights and passages.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
