TINTED PHOTOS AND SKETCHES

An interesting collection of photographs tinted by hand in a.new way and a few original sketches m oil are to bo seen in M'Gregor ..Wrights studio, and repay a visit. The original photographs as far as the landscapes mid war subjects are concerned ere those of Mr. Malcolm Boss, whilst tho toning work is Hmfc of Mrs Boss. Tho best examples of Mrs. Eoss6 work me tho toned photographs of many . we - known people, including the Prime -Minister and Mrs. Massey, lord Islington, Mr. G. Tolhurst, Mr. Andrew Wylio,. and some charming girls, there is nothing that offends good taste in an artistic sense more than the usual coloured photographs with garish and unnatural tones, indefinite line, mid lack of texture, but Mrs. Boss seems to have evolved a method that serves as an aid to the camera in its approach to nature. The toning of some of tho larger scenic photographs is luirolj so effective, perhaps not in all cases has. tho original been improved upon, bat the subjects, notably some of the cliff scenes on Gallipo . a very goo<l picture of the "Trojan Horso" (the Cljde) o the beach and near Capo Holies, and eouie glimpses of shell-shattered Franco retain an interest as war relics.
