The quality of the sheep offered was verj disappointing, prime sheep be-' in-j very scarce, wetlnrs particularly so, and prices for this class reached a h'gli level in consequence. There was keen competition for prime lambs and prime' f-.it cattle. Sin?ep—A good yarding, numbering 31GG head. The yarding was comprised mostly, of .medium' to inferior sheep, very few/ prime sheep being sent forward. Good wethers and ewes were eagerly competed for at prices a shade fhiner, while secondary and inferior •classes were slightly weaktr than h'te ruling rates. Extra prime heavy-weight wetliei? made, from 525. 3d. to OAs., prime 445. (id. to 515., med'um 355. to 435., lighter kinds from 375. 3d. upwards. Extra prime heavy-weight ewes made from 51s. 3d. to 5Gs. Gd., prime 41s. to 485., medium - 335. to 395., light and aged from 245. upwards. Fat Lambs—A fair yarding of fair quality, a total of 810 head being yarded for sale. Competition was keen, and the prices realised were from Is. to Is. Gd. pe" head above | last wesk's rates, Prices, ranged from 20s. 3d. to 355. per head. Fat Cattle—A large yarding of failquality, numbering 20G head. Competition at the commencement of 'the sale was br.'sk, and -priess obtained wero well up to last week's rates. Prime bullocks brought from'<£l9 10s. to .£25 10s., medium .£l7 to ,£l9, lighter kinds from .£l4 10s. upwards. Prime heifers brought from .£ls to .£lB 2s. Gd., medium iCI3 v to <£14 10s., light and aged <£9 upwards. Store Cattle—A small yarding, which consisted mostly of young and backward cattle. For this class tho demand was verr slack, and late values were barely maintained, but for a small number showing breeding and in forward condition competition was good, and these were sold at an advance of 10s. per head above late rates. • ' ' Pigs.—A reduced number was offered at to-day's sale. These comprised mostly baconers. Competition was good, and prices obtained wero equal to those of recent sales. Best baconers brought from lOd. to lid. per lb., and best porkers from 101(1. to Hid. per lb.
