INCREASED PRICE OF MILK
BOARD OP TRADE INTERVENES. By Toleprarh—Press Association. Christchurch, May 5. The Christchurch Dairymen's Association, which resolved Inst week to mcrai™ tlio wholesale price of milk to Is. 6d. a gallon, to-day received the following telegram from the Board of Trade:—"Reports in the papers indicate that th« wholesale dairymen have raised the price of milk to Is. Gd. a gallon. This seems unreasonable. Please justify the increase by evidence." * To this the association replied it would bo pleased to submit evidence to justify the increased price, and asked when its representa'.ivcb could meet the board. The board replied that it would meet the association's representatives in Wellington next Tuesday, or otherwise' the, association would bo aslted to submit evidence in writing. The association telegraphed a-sking if it could take evidence in Christchurch. No reply lias yet been received.
