INFLUENZA SHOWS A DECREASE

MOSTIA MILD CASES

During the week ended noon yesterday, 823 cases of infectious diseases were reSorted in tho Wellington Publio Health listrict, a decrease of 18 compared with ' the number notified during the provious week. The r.uniber of cases of influenza reported was 231, a decroase of six on the previous week's figures. With the exception of two pneumonic cases in Wellington city, from which 85 notifications were received altogether, all the cases of influenza were described as mild. Twelve pneumonio cases were reported during the previous week. . Commenting on the influenza figures, the District Health Oflicer (Dr. I.E. Faris) remarked that there were indications of a general decrease setting in. 'According to tho latest report from the Education Department, the attendance at . the schools was remaining satisfactory •<m the whole. At Worsor Bay School, however, there was a -rather large list of absentees.
