MASSACRE OF FRENCHMEN

Londoni May 1. The Beirut correspondent of the "Daily Express" states that Americans from Urfa give horrible details of the massacre of four hundred Frenchmen near Urfa, whore they were defending themselves in an impregnable position for many weeks. They left this position in coiiseiiuence of fnfe conduct being granted by the Turkish Government.. Three thousand Kurds and Turks attacked u French .loUinm in a'ravine, and killed all except a few who escaped. There were shocking scenes at •Urfa, where later Kurdish and To,ri*h women shrieked war cries behind a procession of soldiers carrying poles with the heads of murdered Frenchmen.-Aus.-N.Z.
