GENERAL FOURNIER'S TRIAL
SENSATIONAL EVIDENCE BY GENERAL PAU. (Rec. May 2, U p.m.) Paris, \ April 30. Sensational evidence was given at the trial of General Fournier. and his subordinate officers for surrendering Mau-beugo-in September, 1914. General Pau "gave evidence that the Minister of War, in August was indignant at Fournier's insistent demands for assistance. Ho ordered General Pau to take command and shoot Fournicr. General Pau inspected the fortress, and agreed with Fournier respecting the■': defective dofonces of the fortress, which could not stand a siege for ten days. Instead of shooting him, General Pau recommended General Fournier for promotion — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
