WAR RELIEF ASSOCIATION
MEETING.OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of tho executive' of tho War Relief Association of Wellington was hold yesterday afternoon, Mr. T.. "v. H. Tripp'presiding. The Finance' Committee reported that the expenditure tor the month of March totalled »C25(i9 13s, fid., and Hio income vCGiG 17s. lOd. The statement of total funds as at March 31, 1920, was as follows:—lnvestments, .CGI.G37 185.,2 d.; cui'rout accounts, .C 2310 fls. Cd.; petty casltj in hand, ,£2O; total, ,£G3,9GB 7s. ■ B<l. The Applications Committee reported that since March 26 last it haj met ill eight occasions and dealt with 281 applications. For the period March 20, 11120, to April 30, 1!)20, tho total number of claims received was 437, comprising 155 new applications and 129 renownJs and reconsiderations; G2 claims aro still under action, the remaining 91 had been sent to other, societies for decision and subsequent action by the association. A very great deal of time, thought, and. consideration had been most gladly extended to ;the very largo juirabur of men suffering physical impairment, entailing varying degrees of loss of earning power, whilst there had been a very large increase in the claims received from tubercular enscs. In many of these it «;as difficult to actually con-nr-ct tho disability with war, service, but the utmost consideration was extended by the committee. All these claims had been separately recorded, and would be followed up until the pre-domestic standard had been re-attained,-or until assistance was no longer required, .even though that position might not be attained for soveral years.
