Tho possibility of a visit of British riflemen to New Zealand' this year was mentioned by Colonel R, J: Colhris, chief executive officer of the Dominion Rifle Association at Thursday's. farewell to Riflemen Croxton and Lovedny, who aro coins to England shortly to compete at the Bisley meeting in July. ■ Colonel Collins stated that he had written to the secretary of tho National Rifle Association, pointing out- that in connection with the proposed visit of a British team to' Australia, tho D.K.A. Would bo. irlail if arrangements could ho made for the team to coino over to NewZealand , -where the members would be most cordially received, and where they would be friven an opportunity of testin" 'their skill against Hit, marksmen of New Zealand. A rifle meeting embracing all the most expert shots in New Zealand could bo arranged for in tho month of October or November. "If a Britisli team comes here we will give them a real Tattling time," continued Colonel Collins amidst npplau)e.\ Colonel Collins added that tho National JlifJe Association of New. South Wales had written to him, asking if New Zealand could" send a. team to compete in Australia during October. The programme at the New South Wales meetin" covered over .06000 ill cash prizes. An invitation had. also been received from South Austnlia; nslring whether a team could bo sent there towards the end of the year. "We will endeavour to send n team to Australia,- remarked Colonel Collins. (Applause.)'. "What nn opportunity it would provide for Riflemen Croxton and Loveaav to cMI in there on their way buck. (laughter and apolause.) ' President H. T. Marshall, chairman of the New /.ealuud "Rifle Clubs' Executive, agreed with Colonel Collins that it would be a very fine thing if an Emuire "Hatch could be fired in Australia, BritHi and New Zealand teams taking part. It was 'thirteen years since a similar •competition-'lmd taken place.
