The Paloona is to leave Melbourno today for Bluff, Duiiedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. KAIKOUH-A AT HOME. ■ Tho New Zealand Shipping Co. advise that the Kaikoura, which left Auckland on February 29, arrived at London on April 24. THE TORCH. Tho Torch (or Firebrand) will, Mr. E. C 4. p. Zohrab advises, lie probably known as tho ltjinia (Maori for Torch), the name selected for the sloop by tho New Zealand Government wlien Bhe was under their control. Captain M. Holm ia bringing t.hc Torch across from Sydney, and has with him as chief engineer Mr. G. W. Ross. The Torch is expected in port on Saturday. OTAKI DUE TO-MORROW. At noon yesterday the Otaki left Auckland for Wellington, in continuation of her voyage from Liverpool. Lato to-night the Ko):iri is expected from Greymouth with a coal cargo. Tim Karamu is to return to GreyniGUtb at noon to-day to load again for. Wellington. At i p.m. to-day the J' -;oia iB to tail for Auckland, via the coast. The Union Company notify that licit Tuesday and Wednesday the ferry steamers will not receive cargo. The Oalm is to sail at 5 p.m. to-day for Dnnedin, Oamaru. Timaru, and Lyttelton. The vessel is due back at Wellington next Thursday, going on to Wanganui from thjs port. The John is due at Wellington next Wednesday with a cargo of produco from Lyttclton. • The Waiwera, to the agency of the A. and A. Co., arrived at Auckland yesterday morning from New York. The vessel is expected to leave the northern port on Monday for Wellington, having 2600 tons of cargo to diacnarge here. Prom this port she will go to Sydney. _ ' The Ripple, which sailed for Napier and Gißborne last evening, is to go from tho latter port to Picton to load barley for Napier. She is due at Picton on Monday, and at Wellington on Tuesday, and she is to stop at Wellington till after the holidays, when she, will load for Napier. Gisborne, and Akitio. A Press Association telegram from Christchurch slates that the Maori encountered a southerly gale of exceptional severity on the run from Wellington to Xjvftelton. ~ The Admiral Codnngton is to 6ail at 6.JU a.m. to-day for Newcastle.
