LONDON MEAT PRICES
DEMAND FOR l-REli MARKET. London, April 27. Newspapers strongly support Sir Thomas Mackenzie's action in regard to tho reduction of tho price of meat, and also a free market for butter. The "Daily Telegraph" says the Government has mado a Btart, even if n small one, in the matter <jf preference; and it predicts that no future Chancellor of the Exchequer will have the courage to repudiate tho policy. Nevertheless Sir Thomas Mackenzie has rendered ft public service in drawing attention to the specific causes of irritation. Public opinion in England will support his ciaim that the same justice should be meted out to tlio peoples of tho _ Dominions as to the people in Britain.— Aus.-N.Z. Ct\blo Assn. PRICE 0? NEW ZEALAND BUTTER. (Rec. April 28, 10.25 p.m.) London, April 27. The Food Ministry has informed Sir Thomas Ma#kcnzie that the Government will pay tho same nrice for New Zealand butter as for Danisli and Dutch, approximating tho present retail price of 35.. less incidental costs.
