At the last meeting of the Wellington Automobilo. Club a letter wafc received from the secretary of the Te Aro School Committco asking if the club were prepared to erect sign posts at the school entrance warning motorists that a school was in the immediate vicinity. The secretary reported to -tlie committee that Mtt/W. H. Morton had already been interviewed by delegates from the club on this subject) and Mr. Morton had agreed to erect notice boards near. .schools throughout Wellington, as. he preferred *uch beards to be of a uniform character. It-rwas decided to send a copy-ot the letter to Mr. Morton; and to ask if ho .was taking action in the matter. Letters were received from ilrs. W. Gray and Mrs. V. EichclbaunV thanking tho secrelarf for his effoits m aia motor-ear outing for the children of tlio Taranaki Street Kindergarten School. . ~ The Auckland Automobile Association wrote asking for the support, of the club in asking the Minister of Internal Affair's for practical en«>uragoment of tho efforts which are being- made to produce motor spirit locally.,. conl ™ tee expressed the opinion, that they v>era not prepared to approach the. koveriiintuit for a subsidy for this object pless . fuller particulars were given ol trie whole scheme. • It was. decided to proceed with the deputation, arranged to interview Mr. Jlassey with regard to the shortage of petrol and also to put the clubs future recommendations before him. Mr. C. M; Banks introduced the subject of a member having reported that he was likely to be summoned for passing a standing tramcar on the righthand side. The committee decided,» Ret n legal opinion as to whether tho statutory law allowed a motorist to'pass on the right of a standing vehicle, and whether it would stand m a Court a£ ugainst the local by-law. _ A subcommittee consisting of Messrs. C. M. Banks and-B; Donne was set up for the purpose of considenng_ the best methods of securing publicity in the interests. motorists, and for the protection of the public. ' . . The secretary reported that he had not received any replies from the. committee in answer to the three copies of circulars he had posted to each member. therefore tho subcommittee of the "Safety First Campaign" were at a standstill It'A'as decided to call a special meeting of the full, committee in order to consider -the position more fully. The following now members were elected A. E. Purdey, Messrs. W. T. Hildreth. A. B. Mabin, and lx. 1!-. Williams. ,
