-4— EFFORTS TO PUSH RESOLUTION THROUGH. Washington, April 25. Republican Senators are now anxious that the Senate should act quickly on thi Peace resolution .before the adjournment, which, will take place shirtly, in order that they may be able to tell their constituencies that they have not delayed tho return to the Peace status. This is considered to be a campaign, movement. Few, however, believe that President Wilson will sign such a resolution or that Congress is able to pass it over the veto—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. SHARP CRITIciToF CONGRESS "PLAYING Tp PART OF A CHILD." (Rec. April 26, 10.30 p.m.) New York, April 26. Mr. Samuel Gompers (president of the American Federation of Labour), in an article in the "American Foderationißt," charges Congress with failing-, to realise national .completeness by abandoning the Peace Treaty, which involved the problems of the cost of living and reconstruction.
