REPORTS. FROM THE HOSPITAL.

A report by tho Director of Vocational Training for the month of March states that the military patients in hospitals are taking an increasing interest in the classes. The number of men receiving instruction, during the month was 19*9, the highest number since the inception of the vocational training scheme. ' Classes are being conducted m eighteen hospital and convalescent homes, and an average of 80 per cent, of tho in* patients are receiving instruction in one or more subjects. - ■ During' March a 6um of «£4S4 was Tealised bv the sale of articles made in the hospital workshops, and this money has 1 been paid into the soldiers' recreation funds. A new feature of the work lias been the organisation of instructional tours for returned- roldiers. receiving treatment in the hospitals. , Visits have been paid to various factories and workshops in the. .centres: ~; , The range of subjects taught to the soldiers is ,very wide. Tho physical capacity, as well as the inclinations of the men, require to be considered, but there are classes to suit all. Some, of the larger groups are as follow:—Gardening, 268 men; motor engineering, 185; basket work: 166; embroidery, 14S; wool-class-ing, 98; general farming, 88.
