The Wairarapa, Farmers' Co-operatlvo Association, Ltd., Fuhiatua, report on tho und9tnientioned sales:—At our fortnightly Balo at Woodville, on Holiday, April 19, a good yarding o£ sheep and a lieavy entry of cattle came forward, which sold at late rates. Wo report the following principal sales:—l4l lambs, 208.; 50 do., l'/s. 3d.; 241 do., 17s. 2d.; 157 do.. 17s. Id.; 70 do., 17C; 155 .do., 13s. 6d.; 79 do., 14s. lid.; 30 ivethcrs, 31s, lid.; 8 do., 28s. 3d.; 70 ewes, 255.; 175 do., 235. Id.; 130 do., 14a.; 8 fat cows, from £8 to £8 155.; 2 dairy cows. £9 12s. (id. and £16 6b.; 1 store cow, £4 2s. 6d.; 1 springing licifer, £13; fat do., £10 10s.; steers, to £8 155.; pigs from 245., 245. 6d., 295. to 3fe. At our weekly sale held at the Mangahao yardß, I'ahiatua, on April 20, wo offered to a fair attendance of buyers a good yarding of Blieep, and a medium entry of cattle. Tho demand for sheep was limited, but wa placed the bulk of our entry by auction and by private treaty, at priceß rather easior than previous sales report. Tho cattle met with a poor market throughout. The following principal sales will indicate tho values:-40 m.B, lambs,.l2s, Id.; 84 do., 12a.; 24 do., 18a. 4d.; SCO 4-tooth wethers, 31s. 6d.; GO 4 and 5-year ewes, 27b. 6d.; 9 fat ewes, 265. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Palmerston North, report liaving a very good entry of both shefen and cattle at their Feilding sale on April 16. There was n good demand right throughout, and the following prices were realised:—Quotations: -Sheep: Cull lambs, ss. to 6s. 10d.; small lambs, 14s. 3d. to 15s. 9d. : very fair lambs, 18s. 8d„ 19s. Tho N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., retort:—At our Himatangi sale on Monday wo had a fair yarding of both sheep and 'cattle. We cleared the yard under the hammer at prices in advance of recent sales. Cull lambs, 9s. 4d. to 10s. 4d.; medium lambs, 13s. Bd. t to 14b. Bd.; fair lambs* 17s. 4d.; store cwcb, 12s. lOd. to 14s. 4d.; 18-month steers, £4 ss„ £5 Is. to £6; cows and calvus, £5 17s. 6d.; heiferß, r.w.b., £12'10a. to £13; S.H. heifers, r.w.b., £10 to £10 10s. At Mr. Hyde's clearing sale on Tuesday cows sold exceptionally well, and tho average for the herd, including everything, was £22. Best cows made from'£2s to £30; heifers, i.w.b., Jersey sorts, £17 10s. to £19 10s.; veaner Jersey heifers, £12 10s. Sundrieß sold well at late rates. , * Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their weekly Hale in tho Colombo Road yards,. IJastertou, on Wednesday, when they submitted a good yarding of sheep and a small , entry of cattle to tho usual attendance. Included in tho yarding was a particularly nico line of mixed sex woolly lambs from Mr. H. T. Hume's Abbotsford Estate, and theso realised the satisfactory price of 255. Following aro tho prices obtained.— Woolly w.f. lambß, 20s. to 255.; 6horn w.f. lambs, 195.; b.f. lambs, 225. 7d.; wethers, 285.; empty owes, 16s. Id.; springing dairy heifers mado £10 '
Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report for the week ending Marti 17:—At Kakaramca on Monday wo had a good yarding. Wo-Quote:—Fat and forward cows, £10 Is.: store cows, £5 10s, to £5 65.; springing heifers, £11; bulls, £7 to £15; 20-monlh Jersey heifers, £8; 20-month steers, £4 55.; weaner heifers, £2 7s. to £3; lambs, 15s. 6d. to 16s. 6d; On Wednesday, at Eltham, we had a lull yarding of all classes of stock. Trices were on a par with late rates. We quote: —Fat and forward cows, £10 to £10 IBs.; store cowa, £5 to £8 55.; springing heifers. £13 10s.; bulls, £7 10s. to £10; weaner heirers, £3 10s.; weaner steers, 31s. to £2 Ms.; 4 and 6-tooth forward wethers, 325. Competition for sheep' was not "brisk, but we quitted mo3t of the entry after tho sale. On Friday, at Waverley, we held our initial sale in Messrs. F. R. Jackson and Co.'s yards, this firm and Messrs. Dalgety and Co. also operating. Thero Vfas a large attendance of buyers, and wo had a very successful sale. Loan and- Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Dannevirke, report the following sales for tho past week:—At Norsewood on Monday, we had a fair entry of oattle, all of wliicli wore n disposed of under tlio hammer. We quote:—Dairy heifers. £8 to £6; fatcowß, £10; forwardcows £7 155.; storo cows, £4 10s. to £3; bulls (light), to £7 ss. At Maliarahara, on Thursday,. wo. conducted 'a most successful clearing sale on account Mr. E. E. Macdonald. There was a large, attendance of buyers, and bidding was very spirited. We quote:—2-tooths (medium), 265. 2d., «ss. 6d.; 2-tooths (small), 215.; empty ewes (aged), 18s.; weanerß, £2 75.; 20-month stcerß, £3 55.; light store cows, £4 Is.; empty heifers, £3; heifers in calf, £8 to £7 25.: implements and general sundries sold at usual rates. At Dannevirke, on Friday, wo held our annual cattle fair, and, ou a fair yarding, disposed of practically - all the cattle wo offered. The general tone of tho market showed a slight decreaso, but vendors generally wero quite prepared to meet same. We quote:— Empty 3-year heifers, £6 18s.;- 20-mouth P.A, Steers, £5 10s.; 2-year P.A. heifers. £6 65.: 18-month Hereford steers, £4 65.; 20-mqnth dairy heifers, to £6 10s. Me/srs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held a very successful clearing sale of dairy cows and heifers at White's Lino East, Lower Hutt, oil Friday, on account of Mrs. O. M. and Messrs. W. T. and J. N. Strand. Bidding was brisk throughout the sals and ft good clearance was effected at satisfactory priceß. Asso elation, Dannovirko, report on their" autumn cattle fair, held on Friday, nB followb:—A good yarding-of nil classes cmne forward, but very few, grown bullocks wore, penned, and for any entries of this class competition wan only moderate. There was a fair inquiry for beat quality two-year floors, but Konerally the Ealc throughout was dragging. We yarded clobo on 000 head, and disposed of about 310 by auction and private treaty.
