A ladies' committee Ims been formed in I'etonc to attend' to the wants of thu aged'and'infirm visitors who will be prosent at the early settlers' pageant. A most enjoyable dance was given by Mr. and Mies Form ail at "Mamnkau." Masterton. on April 10. Tlio room in which the dance wa=? held was prettily decorated with autumn foliage, and tho floor was in perfect order. Excellent, music was supplied by Mr. Stills, and extras were played by Mesdames Skeet and Duffy. During the' evening songs were sung by Miss Watson, Mr. Mills, and Gilbert Burling. A cornet solo was also given by Mr. Davis. The duties of SLC. were carried out by Mr. W. Scott. An enjoyable evening was .brought to a close by'the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and "They Are Jolly Good Fellows.

A meeting' of tho committee of tho Bneictv for the Protection of Women and Children was held yesterday afternoon in the society's rooms. Lady Stout liresided. and there 'were also present Mesdames H. A. Kirkcaldie, A. Hoby G. Ponsonby, J. Kirkcaldie, and Dr Ada Paterson. Tho secretary reported that there were thirteen cases that awaited inquiry since the last meeting, -t'lero were also cases that were being dealt with at the present time, including one of alleged cruelty to a child and others of undesirable surroundings for children. The marriage of Miss Ella Frances Yule, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D C. Yule, of Hawko's Bay, late of Featlierslon, to Captain G. H. Robertson, New. The Prince's Visit and the School Children.- ' A meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary of Hio Navy League and the girls branch was held in the Education Board buildings last evening to wake arrangements for the distribution of food to 12,(100 school children on May 5, in connection, with the visit, of the Prince of Wales to Wellington. Mrs. J. Darling presided, and Mr. Poster was also present to explain the scheme which.it was proposed to follow. Four wharf sheds have been engaged for the use of the children, and at flio Jueeing a lady was appointed to take charge of each shed, with a committee to assist her in carrying out /the arrangements. Memberg of the Salvation Army were hard at work in the streets yesterday collecting for funds with which to p«J' fo- the completion of the Salvation Army Citadel in Vivian Street and the Children's Hall in Jessie Street.
