iustr/iUan-Now Zealand Cable Association. London, April 19. At tlie opening of the wool sales there Was only a moderate attendance of buyern. Tho aggregate catalogues showed 11,161 bales, of which 5045 bales were New Zealand wools. The general tone and biddine indicated more reserve on the part of buyers than at the March sales. Best merinos were unchanged, but shorter and faulty sorts, suitable for tho Continent, declined 7 1 ,- to 10 per cent. This was undoubtedly due to tho fall of (lie franc. For the samo reason all carhonjaincr sorts wero weak. Crossbreds met With good average competition, and pr'ces were generally unchanged—.Vus.-N.Z. Cable Abbii. Messrs. Murray, liobcrts, and Co., litd., nro in receipt of a cablegram from their London agents (Messrs. .Sanderson, Murray and Co.) under dato April 19, aa follows:—"Sales have opened. Crossbred, fine good descriptions, market shows no chance. Faulty descriptions doolined; 10
per cent. Crossbred, medium and coarße, declined 5 to 10 per cent." Messrs. Dalgcty and Company, Limited, havo received tho following cablegram from their London office, under date April J9"l'allow: Thero will be no public sales of tallow this week. Wool: The sales opened with a fair attendance of buyers, and competition was reasonably animated. Thero is a fair selection. As compared with last sales' closing rates, good merino combing is from par to 5 per cent, lower, and other descrptionß of merino 10 per cent, lower. Free croEsbreds, lino quality ill' light condition, are unchanged, but similar burry wools showed a decline of 10 per cent. Medium and coarse crossbrcds were, generally, 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, lower." j j
