CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
The Caledonian Society of Wellington having found itself in a flourishing.position, decided some time ago to purchase a building of its own. The result is that the Caledonian. Hall-at the lower end of Tory Street is now'the property of the society. A iikasant gathering was, held- .last evening to celebrate the opening -of. the et-ason'H programme. It took the form .of a "house warniin'" and, .. judging from the enthusiasm displayed by ■ the largo assemblage, :tbe "hoose" was well warmed. A diligent and ; successful effort was' made to decorate the hall to suit so memorable an occasion. lhe Society's' Pipe Band attended .and .played selections, while Highland dancing in Highland dress was pleasant to. see. Those who have come from Scotland and those who have visited the land "o'er the Border," must have called to memory tho similar gathering 3 in Highland dress held in the Old Land. In addition to the Highland music and dancing, a programme of songs'and recitations followed. Altogether this enthusiastic gathering of Scottish folk augurs well for the future success of the Caledonian Society,
