DANISH REJOICINGS AT , PALMERSTON. By Telegraph— Spcoial Gorrcjoondent. Palmerston North, April 15. To celebrate the restoration to Denmark of Slosvig, after its having been for many years under the German yoke, n large and enthusiastic gathering of Danes was held in Palmerston yesterday. Danish people and their descendants gathered, to the number of nearly 500, at tho local show grounds, and a. luncheon was hold in the A. and P. As-sociation's-big room, which was suitably decorated for the occasion. After the luncheon, loyal and patriotic toasts were honoured, nnd Mr. C. Da hi, who presided, gave a most interesting and stirring address., Amongst the official guests we.ro; Mr. 3. A. Nash. M.P. (Mayor of Palmerston North); Mr. M. Myers, of Wellington (Danish Consul for Now Zealand); Colonel Melville (in command of tho Wellington Military district). An apology was received from the Prime Minister for his non-attend-unco. During tho afternoon national songs were sung by Mr. P. Hansen, a Court singer from Copenhagen, who had beeji specially engaged for tho occasion.
