.4 AERIAL MAILS TO THE FAR NORTH By Telegraph.—Prom a Correspondent. •Auckland, April 11. On Friday last Colonel Allen Bell, with Mr. G. Bolt as pilot, mads a flight by seaplane from Auckland to Awanui (near Kaitaia), a distance of 21)5 miles, in a total flying time of 3hrs. 35min. The return journey to Auckland was done in 3hrs. 13min. Mails were delivered at Russell, Whangaroa, Mangouui, Awanui, and Kaitaia, these being the first aerial mails delivered to the far north. The visitors received an ovation on arrival at the various? towns, and were officially received by the chairmen of the county councils and congratulated on their successful flight. The travelling speed averaged CC miles an hour, and the average height maintained by the seaplane was 2000 feet.
